    Hi all,

I got a problem with my home group.

    Some background:

    4 laptops and 1 desktop

    All running windows 10

After getting “no other computer are available” or something like that, even though all are up and running, I went to each computer and clicked on “leave the home group” and rebooted the computer.

After they are up and running again I go to the home group setup in Control panel trying to set up a new home group, but instead I get: “you are invited to join a home group”.

There should be no home group. When I click on join, it either takes me to the screen to input my password or on some computers it goes to: “verifying password”

After a couple of minutes it tells me it can no longer detect the home group, but when I click on ok it takes me back to “you are invited…..

On some computers I stopped the “verifying password” after 20 minutes or so.

Apparently there is something leftover of the old home group and I cannot setup a new home group.

Anyone have an idea on where to go next?

    Thanks

    Sven

Don't use Homegroup, it has always been troublesome.
Follow the directions at this link. It's for Windows 7 but pretty much the same for Windows 10.

The only thing I'd add is to also disable Homegroup services: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > set the 2 Homegroup services to Stopped & Disabled.

    Thanks TonyT
I had it going for a while, and then it stopped. probably an upgrade or something broke it.
Question remains: why can't I set up a new group?
