i got 40gb harddrive and i want to put in in hal

    hi long time since i was here, like i said i got a western digital 40gb hard drive and i want to put it in hal (or al)but ii know that i need to upgrade a few things first,i think, like the processor (pent ii) so my question is am i right about processor and what else?

    No need to upgrade processors but you may have to update your bios so that windows sees the entire drive.

    Install the hard drive and see is if windows recognizes it as being 40GB. Bear in mind that the drive manufacturers often call 1000MB a GB when in reality it should be 1024MB=1GB so don't be alarmed if it shows it as being somewhat less (probably in the neighborhood of 37-38GB). If windows doesn't see the whole drive, and there's not a bios update that will do it for you, you'll have to install a drive overlay for it to work. Check the floppy disks that came with it (if any) and see if there's anything called Data Lifeguard Tools. If you don't have it on a floppy disk you can download it here. I'm not familiar with it so you'll have to read the documentation that comes with it to find out what you need to install and how to do it.

    If windows sees the entire drive without any of this, there's really nothing else you need to do.
