The seemingly rock-solid Vista Ultimate finally crashed on me (well, it simply froze, so I had to forcibly shut down) when I used one of Ultimate's DreamScene's animated scenes as desktop wallpaper. That by itself didn't do it. It crashed when I launched tons of apps and had 20 tabs open in Firefox. I was able to reproduce the event.

I don't really care, but what would you guys do if it mattered? I currently run a T2600 @ 2.16GHz per core and Ultimate is always set to High Performance. See my sig. for more specs.

Other than that, I am thinking of deleting Windows XP once and for all. Vista ROCKS! :D

Well, I don't run DreamScene... I mean... it's cute for 5 minutes, but it gets old fast.

Also, see this post on Firefox memory problems.

More memory might help :D :D

Good to hear you're enjoying Vista, and that it's performance has been solid. ;)

Thanks for the link. As much as I love Vista, and I do, I dislike IE7. I prefer IE6, which was my browser of choice, before I discovered Firefox. How bad do you ascertain this memory, and security, problems to be? I wish IE7 was faster, and the tabbed browsing was better implemented. Dude, I don't mind that MS, along with everybody else, copied the tabbed browsing innovation...not at all! ;) But it looks to me as they made it screwy on purpose.

I agree with the DreamScene comment. Which is why I don't care about it being a "problem ". So we don't use BitLocker or Dreamscene...what is it that we need Ultimate for? I mean besides the brownie points, bragging rights, etc. And I don't mean to play those down by any means. I was just wondering why we paid for a license for Ultimate other than that LOL

Never can have too much of that, yup! RAM. Memory. Ahh...:D I don't think it was a memory issue, as I have 2GB, and have never seen it use more than 1.5GB, even with my graphics card taking up to 768MB by way of Hypermemory. DreamScene is not worth buying memory for...believe me. :D Although this one waterfall...Arie, please back me up on this, is pretttttyyy crazy gorgeous, baby. hehe...I actually wish it had sound. And on my AFFS IPS...ah never mind, I was gonna go own about my 15" UXGA supe...damneed, I better stop now. :D
