Ok, I know that I made this mistake on my own part but I am trying to fix it. I accidently deleted spoolsv.exe on my windows xp sp2. Norton reported that it was infected and could not be repaired and so it was deleted. I now cannot install a printer (I am trying to use a printer over a wireless network). I did a google.com search, an ask.com search, and I looked through the microsoft website and the only solution I can find is it totally reinstall windows. Is there another way that this can be fixed?

I did replace the file from another computer on my home network that is running windows xp sp2 and when I use services.msc from start > run to try to enable the print spooler I am still getting an error message. Thanks ahead of time for any help that you can give.

Ok. I ran sfc /scannow and it detected some modifications and tried to correct them but it was asking for Windows XP disk 2 and all I have is my Toshiba recovery disks. I inserted disk 2 of my recovery disk and that wasn't working so I tried disk 1 with no luck. Any ideas?

When I use services.msc to try to start the print spooler it gave me an error message that says:

"could not start the print spooler service on local computer/ error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start "

    Hello Brian,

Use System Restore to restore the system to just prior your deletion.

If you're not familiar with SR, from the start menu > Help and Support and type System Restore into the search box.

    Regards - Charles
