When I first got my Dell it came with installers for earthlink, netzero, and aol. I used aol so I thought I would delete the other two things, and started with the earthlink one. I uninstalled it, but after that I always get a pop up when I start my computer that says "application failed to start because E60Cmmon.dll was not found. Reinstalling it may help ". I also get a pop up every time I open any folder from the start menu or the desktop but not when I open something up from the toolbar. It says that Earthlink TAR cannot be installed because it is in a network resource that is unavailable. It wants me to enter an altenate path to a folder containing the installation package "EarthLink TAR.msi ". I click cancel and a pop up says "error 1706.No valid source could be found for product EarthLink TAR. The Windows Installer cannot continue. Any info on what to do to fix this would be appreciated.:)

    Hello ivansgreat and welcome :)

You can start by looking for any EarthLink references in the Registry via Regedit and in files via MS search if you don't have an alternative search program.

To use Regedit: Start > run > type regedit > ok.

In regedit's tool bar: Edit > find.

Before deleting anything, make sure you have set a manual system restore point or there was one set by the system within the last day, this backs up the registry. I'm assuming the OS is XP.

If you don't use SR, then use regedit to backup the registry: in the tool bar > File > export. Create a folder and export either the entire registry or just the branch you're working on.

    Regards - Charles
