Resolved I cannot open msconfig

    When I try to open msconfig with Run or from System32 I get.
    Do you want the following Program to make changes to this Computer.
    Program Name: System Configuration Utility.
    Verified Publisher: Microsoft Windows
    File Origin: Hard Drive on this Computer
    To continue, type an administrator Password, and then click Yes
    Msconfig does not come up.

    Hi wahlroot. Did you access msconfig from a standard user account or an administrator account?

    If its from a standard user account then you are seeing the UAC box because you are not running the computer from an administrator account.

    I would set the UAC setting to only notify you if a program tries to make changes to your computer instead of it being set to always notify you if you make any change to the system. Take a look at this article, Disable User Account Control (UAC) the Easy Way on Win 7 or Vista.

    Note: You should keep UAC enabled and just set the slider to only notify you if any programs try to make changes to the computer. See if that makes msconfig come up.

    I did acess msconfig with standard user and administrater account. No msconfig come up. I just set the UAC slider to only notify me if any programs try to make changes to the computer. Now msconfig comes up. Thanks a lot for your help.
