When trying to open attachments or anything I scan, I get a pop up with the message that BDEViewer.exe cannot be found. I can't find where I would go to to change my default viewer.

Please help! I have searched through every "help" I can find, have asked everyone I know and still continue to have the same problem.

    You've got spyware:

"BDEViewer: A "3D Web Animation" advertising-display plugin, similar to Onflow, as well as distributed computing client that can sell your hard drive space, CPU cycles, and bandwidth. Installed by KaZaA/Morpheus and probably others "

I suggest you download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or AdAware (you can use them both.) Let whichever one you choose clean up any spyware it finds.

If the problem doesn't go away after that, post back.

BDE and its ilk are bad karma to say the least. You should probably remove the program BDE, often installed in either the C:\windows\temp or the C:\windows\system directories and use regedit.exe to make sure that all references to in the registry are removed. Then look at the file extentions (.doc, .htm, .xls, .jpg or whatever) and create the appropriate file associations for them. Generally windows will ask you what program you want to open the file with when no proper association has been created. You can use that dialog box to enter the correct program and solve your problem once BDE has been eliminated.

I want to begin by thanking you both for helping me! However, I am still having the problem. I tried all that you directed. But.. Miz I was concerned about doing the Spybot or AdAware. I have recently added a new Norton updated version that scanned for all that stuff. I wouldn't want to harm it's effectiveness, as it is ongoing. I did have KaZaa on my computer for a short period of time. I did delete it and I went into the windows system directory and deleted all BDE. I even rebooted my computer. But the problem stil remains..

    The pop up reads:
    Windows cannot find BDEViewer.exe
This program is needed for opening files of type 'JPGFile'

Any assistance you can give will be much appreciated!!!

    Hi Nikki

OK I did not understand if you ran SpyBot and AdAware or not?

If not you should do as they directed.

The full Kazaa cannot be completely removed by uninstalling, SpyBot can do it!

    Neither can BDE, SpyBot can!

"ANYTHING " that SpyBot and AdAware find on you computer should be removed!

BUT! To fix the default opening program for JPG do this.

Go to a jpeg file or search for *.jpg. Select any Jpg file and rt click-properties and you will notice that (in your case it opens with BDE) to the right is a change button, click it and choose any graphics program you wish to use to open it and make it the default. From then on that program will open it.

Alternatively you can rt click and chose "Open with" then "Choose program" then when you pick the program to use it will allow you to click "Always use this program...

And both Ad-aware & Spybot play nice with Norton stuff.

I was only kidding, the WWW in all your messages say you do! Smile!

Last night the MSN page showed a beautiful lady called the "Chief fun officer ".

Like the WWW in my messages points to my personal www page.

You can take it off by editing your profile if you want. Remove the MSN.com.

On this BBS where we talk to the other side of the world as easy as next door, we are almost next door neighbors. I live in lexington NC.

All is now good! I have downloaded and ran the spybot and went into your web page to double check it... there were no detections made by your web page...

    Thank you so very much!
