I have mail on a second computer with netscape 7.01 and I want to import to a new computer with the new 7.1. If I goto import and choose mail the only choice is Com 4.xx. There is no choice for Netscape 6.xx or 7.xx or a broose. XP Pro is on both computers.
    Thanks John

You can always copy the whole mail folder from the NS 7.01 install to the NS 7.1 install.

Just navigate to the NS 7.01 location of the NS mail folder (wherever the profile is stored), copy the Mail folder, then navigate to the NS 7.1 profile location , change the folder properties to deselect Read only, say yes to making this change for all the folder's contents and then paste the Mail folder into that location ... you should then have a Mail folder in NS 7.1 with all the contents that were in the NS 7.01 profile.

If these are two separate computers (not on a network), you may have to copy the folder to some external media (CD-R, CD-RW, USB keychain drive etc.) to do the transfer.

    Harold,

That would work but I would loose my mail in 7.1. I want to merge or have 7.01 along with 7.1. It could be as old mail. I will play with coping and see if that could be done.
    Thanks John

    Harold,

I tried that but the folders do not show up. In 7.01 the folder inbox has the extension .snm and in 7.1 it is .msf.

    Thanks John

    Welcome to the Forum, jws338!

    Hi John,

To combine the mail from the old Profile with the new:

    With Netscape closed:
    Open Windows Explorer:
Back up both the old and the new Mail Folders
In the old Profile, rename the mail files with NO MSF extensions, i.e., OldInbox, OldDrafts, etc.
Copy these files to the new Profile

Files with the snm extension are Communicator Mail files, but can also be moved as described above.

Open Netscape, and you will see the renamed folders. You can either leave them as the renamed folders, or you can drag the messages to your new Inbox, Drafts, etc.

The above is assuming that you have set up your Mail accounts in:
Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups Accounts.
