I can only receive e-mails...I can't send them

Hi - I am using Outlook Express 6.

Whenever I compose a message in Outlook and hit "send" I get error message 0x800CCC0F saying that "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection ".

I have checked that the account settings are correct and I have also added the account to a different computer (on the same network), but still get the same message.

Someone suggested to me that it might be due to my router, considering that the same issue occurred on two different machines both accessing the internet via the same router. Any ideas? How do I check if my router is allowing mail from Outlook to be sent? It's a netgear router if that helps.

My ISP is AOL, but the account I am using on Outlook is nothing to do with AOL - is this what you mean? If so, is there nothing I can do? Is there an alternative to webmail or am I stuck with it?!
