I accidentaly deleted an Excel spreadsheet (.xls) that I need. I went across our network to another computer, opened a folder to look at some spreadsheets, and accidentaly deleted one I need. The file is nowhere to be found! It's not in my or the other computer's recycle bin. When you go across a network and delete a file, is it then gone forever? No recycle bin?

How can I get it back? Any ideas? Any free recovery software out there that works?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

There is no Recycle Bin function for Network or removable media. You can try some file recovery software on the machine that had the file on its HD.

There are freeware ones so give Google a go on it. I have had one called Restoration.exe to work on occasion. It depends a lot on how much drive activity has occurred on the parent drive.

    Good luck.
