    Hi,

I have recently been using HyperTerminal as a front end to an embedded project for which I am writing the code. Whilst using this program I have noticed a number of oddities in its operation. I am using the program to use a COM port.

When a terminal session is configured using odd parity the status bar at the bottom of the screen shows N (presumably for none), in fact is always shows an N irrespective of the actual parity selected.

I find that there are differences between the way the screen interprets received characters depending on weather or not I am using no or odd parity.

I have verified that my application (using another terminal program) sends the same character sequences when it is configured for no or odd parity.

Has anyone else experienced these sorts of problems with HyperTerminal and if so are there any fixes/updates?

Would anyone care to suggest an alternative terminal program? It only needs to be simple, IE display what it receives and transmit what is typed at the keyboard?

I have also downloaded HyperTerminal Private Edition but this seems to have the same problems as the HyperTerminal supplied with the OS.

    Regards Basher

    Hi,

Windows XP professional service pack 1. Further investigations would appear to indicate that HyperTerminal does not load previous configuration settings correctly when using a COM port. When HyperTerminal starts and you choose to load a previous configuration things appear to go wrong. If, however, you choose not to reload a previous configuration but instead set up a new one it works fine. It does appear, however, to still show incorrect settings on the status bar!
