ok, so apperently somehow on my PC (i'm on laptop becuase of this) the drivers were lost or corrupted for my VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter. i'm gone to device manager and tried to upate, i get the error that reads "An eror has occured during the instalation of this device. A service installation section in this INF is invalid ". I've completely lost access to the internet so i have to post from here. In device manager there is another device that doesnt have an error, but has the saem name as the one that does! my network adapter. In the troubleshooter i was asked to uninstall the device, nd re install it. That cant happen because its in the motherboard and when i try it says it is needed to boot up the computer, so cant be uninstalled, any way i can get the drivers back? please help me!!!
---------i just copied the drivers i needed to a cd and installed them on the pc, thats fixed, but internet still doesnt work, in the network connections window it says connected but no activity. theres still an error with "WAN Miniport (IP)" it says "Windows cannot start this hardware bcause its configuration information (in the registry) is imcomplete or damaged (code 19)" what the heck does that mean? Also. there is another thin under network adapters in device manager called "IEEE802.11b wireless USB adapter" with the same error as wan miniport. What is going on with my comp???

When it talks about "uninstall ", I expect it means the drivers. That means when you go to Device Manager, highlight the device and select Uninstall (from the tools bar or you can right-click on it). Have the drivers disk ready for when you restart. Do this with all those devices you mentioned, it seems the wrong drivers are installed for one device, but it shares driver files with other devices. PS, don't copy and paste driver files, they need to be installed.

If there is software associated with the hardware you may need to find them in Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs, then uninstall and reinstall those.
