There are some HSP56 drivers available at this Link

You should see if you can find out the exact chipset number for your modem.

Click on the "Agree" button then on the next page the drivers are available at the bottom of the page.

I also have the driver Zip file for the HSP56-MicroModem I can send to you via e-mail if you want it. Send me a PM with your e-mail addy and I will send it to you.

    john,
Thank you very much. I will check the chipset with Aida and get back on here. It has been a real search and I think the driver may be my problem. Appreciate the help and will get back shortly.

Can you not find the drivers via the compaq/hp website?

I regret to advise that I had very poor support for resolution of the problem from Compaq. Their download for drivers I found to be woefully inadequate. I sent an e-mail to the help desk asking for an as built configuration to try and find downloads of drivers elsewhere but that request was simply ignored after the automated receipt verification. This bboard was my salvation throughout this effort.

I've uploaded a couple XP drivers for that modem. I suspect the first may be the one you need. They should work for 2k as well as XP.

I had a lot of trouble finding them for my old computer, so I kept many copies-----never again! ;)

If you haven't found one for 98, let me know. I think I still have the installation CD that came with that computer and it had 98 on it. The driver must be there.

:p Thank you very much. I think the system is now up and running well. I will not have to revert to the 98 option. I do however greatly appreciate your offer. The response to this has been overwhelming. I really am glad I found this board and have told several people how great it is.
