Working on an HP 6553 and I can not get it to boot all the way up. It gets to blue screen "Expanding possibilities HP screen then goes blank, not black but blank. Nothing affects it. I was able to get into f8 once but then on reboot- it just went back to this blue screen then blank again. CD rom lights, floppy does not, cpu fan runs, hard drive operates(Had in another unit). I know this CPU was disturbed before I got it and am not sure what's going on. Could this be a bad ribbon? Any help is much appreciated.

Try pressing (and holding)ctrl when black screen with flashing c prompt is visable to get into startup menu and try safe mode

Hp pc are a little differnt then win instructions for startup menu.

also to get into an hp bios usualy just press an hold anykey youl get a stuck key message then you can enter bios
Might help to in bios reset to default save changes & exit.
