Last night when I tried to print a web page, I received a printer error that I have never seen before. It was a warning that if I did not remove the black cartridge right away, then it was going to ruin my printer. Now it is true that I purchsed a refilled HP cartridge from Voltex, but the refilled cartridge was a spent HP cartridge and it worked fine before the error message. I also could not shut off the printer. So I removed the cartridge, examined it very carefully and reinserted it. I did some printing afterward and everything worked fine.
    What's the story?

It might have been something as simple as a speck of corrosion or oxidation on one of the contacts that connect the cartridge to the printer. Removing and reinserting it cleared the problem.

Cleaning the contact pad off with a light application of a pencil eraser will assure good contacts.
