I have a HP officejet t-65 (all in one)(parallel) that I want to connect to my dell-5150(usb) with winsp-home. I have two pci slots available, should I install a parallel pci controller card or use the parallel to usb cable.

Thank you for your help- Mike

    I have not used either.
Sounds like you may already have this cable, may as well try it. I searched for those cables/adapters, they are readily available and so must work OK. Prices varied from US$10-$70. If you need to buy one, don't spend a lot on it unless you can return it if it fails to work (I wouldn't know if special drivers were needed, although you will be safer off with Win XP than previous versions of Windows).

The PCI card may be more useful if you think it would be easier to set up or may have other uses for it in the future.

It may just be a matter of personal preference.

Take the card route. USB to Parallel cables are very difficult to setup & troubleshoot. Use them only as the very last resort.
