My sister has a HP OfficeJet 7310 All-In-One. Whenever she scans a picture, it comes out in tif format. Since I don't live near her and don't have the same printer, I don't know how to tell her to change the settings. If anyone has this printer/scanner/copier, could you give me instructions on how to change the settings so it will always scan in jpg format for her. Please try to make it at specific as possible, because she isn't computer saavy and I have to explain to her through IM or email. Thanks a lot!

I could point you to the manual, if that helps:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=391182&lang=en&

    About TIFF files:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...c=us&lang=en&rule=23945&product=391182&dlc=en
I would expect that you open the file with the HP or camera software then go to Save As. Change the type of file to be "saved as" from .tif to .jpg . (In most Save As dialog boxes there is a dropdown at the bottom of the box.)

    This seems to be it

PS If the software has a Tools -> Options menu, you may be able to change the default file type to be saved from TIFF to JPEG.

    Thanks,

I had looked up the manual, but there didn't seem to be anything in there about settings. But your comment about the software got me to thinking about it more. I also have an HP All-in-One, just not the same model. I opened my software and looked through it till I found the settings and figured out how to change them. I sent her thorough instructions. Hopefully she has the same software or it's similar enough she will be able to figure out how to change her own settings. I found something in mine that I was able to change at the same time, so that's great. Thanks for the little lead that may solve the problem.

For anyone in the future, if you open your HP Director software and look around, you'll find a button for settings with many interesting things in it. But particularly, you can change the format of your scan there.

    Thanks again.

No problem:) , glad you were able to find it. A friend of the family has a similar model (I think), but I won't be over until Wednesday. Post back if you would like me to look at their's.
