A few days ago, I got a routine Email news from HP. Among it's items was a link to check for my printer's driver version.

Clicking there I was soon taken to there driver download area where I was told my version (10.1) was outdated and recommended to update to 10.3.

After doing so all appeared to be fine UNTIL a few days later I tried to print from my DTP package and got a Windows error message that the printer was having a problem (no codes). Upon checkling I discovered that about 80-90% of my programs give this same error.

Unfortunately when 10.3 installs, it first removes the previous installation. I downloaded a second time and reinstalle . . same results.

I'm trying to get back to the orignal drivers but they aren't on the HP site and all the non HP sites also only appear to have the 10.3 version.

I need to locate the older drivers or, failing that, does anyone have the solution to what's going on with version 10.3?

    What O/S?

If you are using WME or XP you should have the driver rollback function.

You failed to state connection method (LPT or USB), which O/S, and the extact error message, so we're going to need more info to get things going.

Thanks all for your responses. Sorry that I forgot to post some significant info. Chalk it up to frustration at this incident just when I've got a lot of deadlines to meet.

I've PMed to dobhar and hopefully he'll have the drivers I need.

BUT, just in case the problem persists, here's some more info.

    I'm using WIN98 SE. LPT1, ECP+EPP mode.

There are no error codes. After I try printing there is a longer then noramal delay and eventually a message that I have windows conectivity problem and to reboot. Also to call HP if the problem continues.

The really puzzleing part is that 1 or 2 smaller utility programs (notpad and I forget the other one) do print.

If needed I'l get more infor tonight when I'm at home where this problems exists.

    Again, thanks folks!

Cal E--Your old drivers should be on the set-up disk that came with the printer. If you uninstall the printer per Steve R Jones' suggestion, you will need the set-up disk which includes drivers to reinstall.
Did you have any directions how to install the new driver?? See the site URL below.
P.S. I am really surprised to hear that HP would have emailed you to offer new drivers. The 722C is over four years old. The v 10.3 driver must be close to four years old. HP has long ago stopped offering much if any service for that model.
Did you just recently install it or register it? What HP does offer can be accessed from here

    dobhar,

Thanks for the download. Unfortunately, when I unpacked it, it turned out to be vers 10.3 which is the version I already have.

Oops! I forgot to mention that the other ideas haven't worked either.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled more then once. And because I was planning to move in the near future I packed away all my PC related books and etc. Too confident for my own good that I wouldn't need them.

What I have down to get back on the air is remove the bi-directional capability. This seems to be working, although a little slow.
