I bought a new laptop (Windows 7 home premium) and would like to run my old HP 5200c scanner on it. It appears I have the HP software loaded but I am now looking for a driver to get things working. HP and MS do not have one. I am now thinking I have to figure out how use the scanner in something called "compatability mode." Can anybody tell me if I am on the right track? On my old laptop, I had the scanner working with Wondows XP. I am trying to figure out if I can run the scanner on the Windows 7 machine using XP compatability and wonder if it's possible. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You will need to use third party drivers - your scanner is compatible with VueScan which, in turn is compatible with Windows 7 ....

There is a trial of VueScan available. Works great with my Nikon Coolscan IV on 7.
