    Hi All,

I'm hoping this will be an easy one for someone to answer.

My system is getting slower, I believe, from simply programs being installed and removed over the years. Despite my efforts to uninstall programs not being used, via "add or remove" on the CP, I have a bunch of items that seem to run continually in my processes list. Malwarebyte's Anti-Maleware program doesn't find any issues and I'm running Trend's Internet Security as well.

Here's the question...Is there a program or utility that can help me clean up my process list? I guess my other option is just to add more RAM and let the system run as is, but I like the idea of a clean-up better so I don't run un-needed processes.

Let me know if you want more info, but the System is running approx 1GB of RAM now with a "86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~3201 Mhz" processor and "XP Pro-5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600" OS Version.

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hearing from someone.

    H.

The following will tell you everything about processes and services to help you determine what you can safely disable.

Several pieces of software which allow you to control those items which run at startup and which by definition add to the process list.

I would recommend CodeStuffStarter or Startup Control Panel - now use the former. WinPatrol also has the facility to control or delay startup items.

BTW another gig of RAM would not go amiss and a clean install works wonders is removing accumulated junk :)
