    hi

others may have seen my other post and know what i wanna do.
how would i use a voltmeter to test the 24 pins of my dell gx620s power supply so i can fully determine if the wiring has been switched by dell. would i put the positive probe (red)on the each coloured pin and then put the black probe (negative) on any of the ground pins of the atx wiring

    see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX

look for the atx 24 pin power supply connecter diagram
    please advise me

    many thanks

hankyouvery very very 10x very much mate this helped greatly i manged to find the exact same diagram for my small form factor one. all but pin 10 and 11 matched colour wise, pin 10 and 11 for what ever reason on my psu was in white but on the but according to the diagram i found it should of been yellow. i was warey of this so i did a voltage test on pins 10 and 11, the voltages matched so i am belive it was just a manufacturing error, because why would they put a fake diagram on the site. also the pin outs they put matched the atx 2.0 standards so i put 2and 2 together and everything was making sense.

i can now put a 9600gtx (low profile edition) couple with a thermaltake gpu power supply in with out fear

    thanks

The colours may have faded or as you say, they may have run out of yellow cables. Anyway, it's good you got it sorted out (I might use the same procedure for a GX260 I am having problems with).

Yes, put the black lead on any ground, they are all the same. Then probe the wires you wanna check with the red lead.
