I see there is nothing here showing help for Chrome. Let me post what I'm up against anyway & if you folks do not deal with this particular Browser, let me know.
I continually get this frustrating notification on a lot of sites I go to. It is as follows, "We like to send you notifications for the latest news and updates."
I've gone into Settings / Advanced / Content Settings and blocked all Notifications. But I still get this thrilling message, "We like to send you notifications for the latest news and updates."

Is there another way to stop this and if so, please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for your efforts. Looked through these links but nothing they suggest really works.

Thank you again for the reply. The instructions given in the link do nothing. I've tried that before but it is ineffective. I do the Disk cleanup every week and clear history about once a week. I can and do have the No Tracking in the browser set.
What I did was, I changed the Power Button to shut down instead of sleep on Plugin & Battery. Apparently from what I understand thus far, this is where the issue lies. If I find otherwise, I'll post it up here.
The saga continues. Stay tuned to a computer near you for the latest updates!

It's not the Chrome itself but the sites along with some help from browsers.

Someone somewhere thought that spam in our life was not enough and we need more of it and on a regular basis. So a standard was reached where it allowed the web sites to spam you with the news & views that the sites thought were important. It's across all web browsers and on all platforms. And the best part is even if you say "No", you are asked again when you revisit the web site. Yuck.

Thanks for the reply. Obviously what you are saying makes sense & seems to be the answer to my initial question. You were probably mystified as to why I brought the Power Button into this. Not totally sure but it would seem I had a misfire & mini-explosion in the cerebral cortex. Maybe the Moderator can remove that comment while I go hide under the couch!

I have no such problems. Using Firefox I can select to Never Allow and revisiting the site shows the block is active:

    notif-blocked.PNG

Even on Google Chrome the block works.

Probably you are deleting the cookie that stores your preferences. In Chrome the option is Content Settings:
