I have high speed internet at work through a router. I have heard that there is a way to see all the computers in the network/router but I do not know how. Anyone know the steps I need to take to achieve this?

If you have a microsoft network - either workgroup or domain - you should be able to use network neighborhood (or My Network Places or however it is called on your system) to see all PCs on your local network provided they have file & printer sharing activated and have something shared.

Assuming the all have TCP/IP, you can do start~run~cmd and when the window is open
    net view
should show you all the LAN PCs.

Thank you for this reply, and yes, in DOS, you can. What I am looking for is when the computer ran Windows ME, the whole network was visable in Network connections. I figure there is some way in Windows XP to achieve the same thing under Network connections, I just do not know how.

There is certainly a way. Several, in fact. But I get the feeling I'm missing a point here somehow.

Toward the bottom of the drive listing in Windows Explorer there should be a network icon. With a little clicking, you should be able to take a look at all PCs on the network that are set to share files/printers and that have something shared. Similar to what you should see in "My Network Places" window. Are you not seeing those?

Also, I'm not really sure what you mean by "Network connections as you are using the term.

Since you say a net view without any switches/parameters shows you the network PCs, you have to pretty much be set up correctly. But net view will show you PCs that aren't set to share stuff and won't show up in My Network Places / Network Neighborhood.

When I had Windows ME, you could go to Network Neighborhood and see a representation of the computers that were attached to the router--you know one computer that said it was Amy's computer, one that said it was Jim's computer etc all attached to the center which was the router. Is there a way in XP to create that view? Does that make better sense?

In answer to the part about Windows Explorer, I went there and NO, I am not seeing them. What I am asking, is there a way to enable that view.
