 Please could I ask what I hope is not a silly ?
I need to take back my Laptop to manufacturers state but only the Programs not my Folders or Files. So I know I would choose just the Windows option, leaving my stuff untouched. I have 3 Programs that I use a great deal [and no longer available] but do not have a copy on a CD/DVD.
I thought I could Drag the selected Folders from the Program Folder with windows explorer! Would that work and when I have re-installed Windows put them back.
    Thanks' for any help:eek:

All your software programs should be saved on a additional external HD. A fatory computer instal does erase all contents on the internal HD. It is best to have an additional external type HD as a safe means should your internal HD becomes corrupt or mechanically faulty.

No, you cannot copy the program folders and then put 'em back after the new install. It won't work. You will need the programs' installers. What are the 3 programs?

Software downloaded from i.e Computer Active etc, can for easyness be copied to another HD or USB flash stick as a standby should the original download installed in computer become corrupt. Any software purchased on a CD-DVD requires to be used to reinstall that program.

    Go here:
    http://www.acdsee.com/en/support/acdsee-12
and on the right side you can login and probably re-download ACDSee.

Your existing version likely has a license key and might be obtained via the ACDSee Help menu or other menu. Write down that license info.

PRIOR to re-installing Windows, contact ACDSee support and tell 'em your situation. They may be able to advise you on how to get a fresh copy of your purchased product.

All went well after returning home and buying an external hard drive. My Programs are all working now. It did take nearly 2 weeks to download all the updates 1st from Microsoft!
I am however very pleased with the much uncluttered PC. Thank you for your help Tony and BobbyScot 1 is never 2 old 2 learn.
