Any ideas how to remove invalid icons from vistas control panel.
I did a search for cpl and I assume that vista no longer uses control panel applications that have that extension.
I search through the registry with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    remove icon

I had already done that. I wanted to remove it from the system.
I wanted to know where these control panel applications are located.

When I do an "Advanced Search" for *.CPL I see all the Control Panel items.

Using Explorer go to C:\Windows\System32. Arrange the View by Type and look for files with cpl as the extension. You may have to display full filename in Folder Options to see them. Create a folder, say, TempCPL in Documents. Move the unwanted cpl files to the new folder and open Control Panel to check your removals.
