How to network Windows XP computers?

    Wondered if anyone can help me. I want to be able to connect my laptop with either my hsbands computer or the childrens. We all run XP. How would I go about this.???????? and what would I need.???????

    The best way, IMO, is through a wireless router and wireless card. All computers can use the router to access the internet and access files on each other. And a router offers better security. You can use a crossover cable to connect to just one computer though. You would then share that computer's internet connection.

    I have my laptop networked to my main tower via a CAT cable with independent ISP's on each - obviously need an Internet connection on the laptop when used independently. I used the XP Networking Wizard and disabled ICS.

    Stitch - look in Help/Support under Networking > Walkthrough Home Networking for some basics.
