    I shot home video by panasonic digital camera and wanted to make DVD by burning same with my NTI DVD maker software but when i try to burn avi files( huge size) , it shows error.I understand that these burners can't burn avi files directly and first has to be converted to VOB files etc. . I need stepwise guidance on how to do it and softwares required to be downloaded.Further , are any DVD burner software available which can directly convert avi files , compress it and enable burning DVD?
    More details explanation on what is this VOB?? IFO, BUP files are.

    Assuming you are running XP look at Windows Movie Maker which can handle .avi files and is part of XP.

    Latest version is Movie Maker 2.1

    Thanks Reply

    Dear Peter,
    thanks for replying .I am using OS Vista and it does has window dvd maker but when i import video from my digital camera and try to burn , it does do encoding but at the end when it reaches 99% , error message displays that yr DVD cant be burn please insert new DVD , whereas i am using new DVD+R; I was wondering whether DVD+R is correct one or should I use DVD-R;What is the difference ??

    Also, can u guide whether avi files can be first compressed and then converted to VOB file and burned 'or' can the compressed file avi can be burned by using windows dvd maker;
    I was even thinking an options to convert *.avi files in to MPEG-II and then burn it But donot know how to and where to locate good proven software for same.
    kindly guide and provide some links to resolve above
    good day
