I have misplaced a few USB stick protective caps. It would be appreciated if someone could direct me to a source that sell in small amounts. Thank you.

eBay advertise caps for Laptop USB port. Require flash stick protective caps (male). I would like to hear from people who have actually obtained suitable USB caps to replace my lost ones.

On your behalf last night I scoured eBay and Google for the caps you require. The only source I came up with was that given by SpywareDr.

Hen's teeth come to mind :)

Unfortunately RooKaps are in America and prices are quoted in dollars ($), with a high carriage rate. Minimum quantity is (5) just what I require.
I am a little hesitant in giving my card particulars to American companies due to distance. No offence meant to American members of BBS.

Like PeteC, I also scoured the 'net via Google and RooKaps seemed to be the only available source.

Just Googled rookaps uk and this eBay UK page was the first hit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/rookaps/m.html

Hi BobbyScot, you could make some USB thumb drive end caps from Heat shrink tubing and the wife's hair dryer. They probably wouldn't look 100% smart but would stop dust and dirt from getting in. Kiwi ingenuity - like #8 wire jobs. :D Neil.

I again look into the Google UK page, for the life of me, after several on line pages, unable to locate any male caps. It appears that RookKaps USA only
available source, or am I wrong?

retiredlearner, thank you for your tip. Need to buy a hairdryer, rather expensive for this occasion, but thanks again.

How many do you need? If just a couple, I would visit your local electronics/computer store's repair center and grovel for a couple. They probably have a bin full of dust caps of all sorts, shapes, sizes and even colors.

Yes, that appears to be quite true. An opportunity for a UK entrepreneur? ;)

It appears RooKaps prices are $8 + carriage for 5. Iam certain that I am not the only one searching for source to buy, in my case 5 at $2 each + postage. Any one interested?

I enquired at RooksKap as to the best size listed in their price list, they replied unable to say which was the correct size.
I checked the various manufactured USB sticks that I have and was astonished in finding out that, cap fitted on an Integral did not fit any of the others and vice versa. A USB stick cap will not fit a USB cable type A.

That's because most "USB stick cap "s are not the same thing as a "RooKap" or the Chinese "Silicone USB Type A Male Anti-Dust Plug Stopper Cap Cover Protector ".

The "RooKap "s and the Chinese "Silicone USB Type A Male Anti-Dust Plug Stopper Cap Cover Protector "s are designed to be a snug fit around the male outer metal sheath . . . like a little hard plastic condom.

I think the inability to determine exactly what you need compared to what these companies are offering makes my suggestion to visit your local repair shops as still your best option.

ESPECIALLY since you are having such a hard time, it might pique their interest in finding the right one.

I ask again, how many do you need?
