    Anyone know how to interpret the following registry data string, ie, examine it for possible references in English?

    {4475F8B8-1316-4853-82E6-C6149A7BA4C3}

    For example, the above sample (which is copied from my own registry) might contain REAL words, like 'norton'. Or 'potrzebie'. Or 'willgates for king'.

    Which might enable this bear of little brain to figure out just what the h*ll the thing is doing in my computer. <gr>

    I vaguely remember being told how to do this many moons ago but I can't find my notes (if I actually made any LOL)

    Advice welcome :confused:

    PS - Please note that I've nothing against the particular data string shown above;I'm sure it's completely innocuous. I'd just like to know how to translate it, and its fellows.:)....

    Thanks for that link, IrdReed - it's a very good registry article, and it's worth keeping for reference.

    Unfortunately it doesn't cover the matter of data inside curly brackets. Shucks, maybe I'm misremembering, but I could have sworn I read something years ago about deciphering the data contained between curlies. Maybe it was a hex editing thing - dunno.

    I just remember deciphering a couple of these things and being amazed at what was actually hidden inside the (hex?) data string.

    But thanks again for your response :)
