What are the steps to install windows 7 on my 32bit Dell desk top PC which has previously had Ubuntu installed on it.
If I boot from windows 7 CD I get a message "Windows cannot be installed on this hard drive. Windows must be installed to a partition as formatted as NTFS.
The partition is of an unrecognized type. "

Windows normally can't handle hard disk which has been already partitioned/formatted with Linux.

Download GParted & copy it to USB/CD as per your requirements. Boot from it & delete ALL the partitions on your hard disk. Create a new partition of type NTFS which spans all your hard disk.

Now boot from Windows 7 disk & proceed as usual. Windows would now permit you to delete/create partitions.
