How to get rid of windows log In dialog box?

Hello everyone,

I really messed up my computer and i dont know how to fix it. hopefully you guys will be able to help.

My LAN wasnt working so i was messing around with the computer and i remember i installed something in the network connections option in the control panel menu.

Now, whenever i turn on my computer, it shows a dialog box that says:

windows xp log in

User:
Password:

I did not set up nor do i know my user name or my password.

Hence, i cannot access anything on my computer (rather cant even go to the desktop) until i fill in the correct user name and password.

How do i get rid of that and make it start normally again? it has been bugging me for days and i cant find anyone or anything that helps.

I tried pressing ESC, doesn't work. The cancel button is grayed out...

please help me.

 

It's gonna be hard following MS advice in that article if you can't get to your desktop. You could try typing in Administrator as the user and leaving the password blank. You could try pressing F8 at boot to get into safe mode and run a System Restore. Do you have XP Home or Pro?

i tried doing safe mode, but the dialog box appears again. i can't seem to bypass it.

Also, i DONT have a domain obviously, but when i get an error message in log in to windows dialog box, it says something like user name and password inccorect in doman or something. so the computer thinks i have a domain, but idon't, i just installe dthe domain component.

system restore won't start on my computer and i dunno why. so i tried system restore wizard...didn't work.

i have xp pro

 

If you have Pro, you have an admin account with a password, even if it was installed at the factory. Can you check the documentation that came with your computer? You need your password to have any hope of recovering your data safely. It's too bad you don't have any Password Recovery Disks.

It is a violation of posting rules for us to discuss how to "crack" passwords, so I'm stopping here.

Okay i tried putting administrator as my username with no password and i worked...except there is an admnstror folde rin my documents and i have to transfer all my music files and pictures which are still on the same drive, but not accessible (b/c of that admin folder...i guess). How do i get rid of the admin thing? Its really annoying...
