OK folks - we done messed it up again.

There was this great program - it sounded good - it was freeware - and all that.
    So, we downloaded it.
    And installed it.
And it was a dog - didn't work etc.

So, we go to start and control panel to remove it - but it ain't there.

Then we use explorer and find the folder with all those files.

However, when we try to delete we get:

A box called "Error deleting file or folder "

And it says to make sure file is not in use and all that garbage.
    We ain't using it !

So, how the $$**!! (I ain't suspossed to cuss on this bulletin board, but I'm too ##$$ old to care !) do we delete those files we do not want ?

This one really bugs me - how does one control what they want or do not want ?

That's it - let us know - thanks.

I'm guessing that the downloaded program installed itself in your start menu, and that if you right click in the taskbar area, choose Task Manager, and end the rogue process, you should be able to delete this program. If you have a good System Restore Point, that might do the job, too. Other ways to try to do the delete is in Safe Mode, or with MoveOnBoot but look to see if the program has an uninstaller in itself, first If none of the above helps, post back with the name of whatever you downloaded and installed. Somebody will know how to nuke it!

    Got good results !

The program did not show up in "Task Manager ".
The "Move on Boot" link did not work.
Safe mode deleting did not do it.
    There was no "uninstaller" file.

Restore to an earlier time did the job - the program is gone !.

    Thanks

Sorry, I should have mentioned Snapfiles needs an activeX permission. MoveONBoot is a handy freebie- allows you to select things to delete with a right click, and then at reboot, before Windows starts, it deletes them.

Glad the System Restore worked for you, thanks for posting back!

You might consider buying a copy of GoBack. I do a lot of the same sort of thing you mention and when (usually) I find something I don't want to keep, GoBack will simply roll my entire system back to a time before I loaded it and all traces will be gone, gone, gone. I don't even mess with trying any uninstall or add/remove options from the application - just GoBack to a time before it existed on my PC.
