I'm trying to delete everything related to MS Office on my computer, to resolve another issue I'm having. I have MS Office 2010 powerpoint viewer, and I'd like to delete it.

It does not appear in the Control Panel/Uninstall a program menu. I know I have it--it has its own folder in my Program Files x86 directory, and there is an exe that I can click on--it is an open with dialog; I browse to a ppt file and it opens up in a Powerpoint Viewer.

I used Revo Uninstaller, but it didn't detect the Powerpoint viewer in its list of installed programs. I'd be ok with simply deleting this file folder, but I'd like to uninstall anything that it might have done to the registry as well, so I'm wondering if there are any other ways I can make sure to get rid of this program and all its tracks.

Thanks, Pete. Same thing as Revo---wasn't listed. I specifically looked in the Tools/Uninstall section.

Well if three uninstallers (including Windows 7's own) can't detect a program, I'm wondering if I can just simply delete that folder. I mean, I already have the Powerpoint program from Office 2010 Professional Plus.

I'm still having file association problems with docx, even after totally uninstalling 2003, so I'm trying to do whatever I can to simplify things for this installation of Windows.

Since I never use this powerpoint viewer, I don't suppose any harm could come from simply deleting this folder in the Program Files directory.....

    What do you think?

Rename the folder would be similar to deleting it. If no bad things happen for a while then you can delete it.

Normally to uninstall one part of Office, you launch the uninstall for the whole suite.

Fair enough. I'll just rename it.

I'm not sure if MS (or Windows) considers the viewers to be part of their office suite or not. Anyways, I'll rename it and see what happens.

There is no such thing as MS Office 2010 powerpoint viewer.
It's either Powerpoint part of MS Office or PowerPoint Viewer 2007.

A rose by any other name.--a screenshot of the about window from this viewer I've just renamed.

The powerpoint program from Office 2010 is still working on my computer, even though I've renamed that other folder.

I think there is some confusion here.
MS Office includes Power Point with which you can obviously open .ppt files but it doesn't have anything what is called PowerPoint Viewer as a separate piece.

However some people, who don't use Office and still want to open .ppt files download and install free PowerPoint Viewer provide by Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13
It'll install in C:\Microsoft\Office 14 folder like MS Office does.
If I look at .exe file properties it reads:
    Product name Microsoft Office 2010
    Product version 14.0.4754.1000

    ...like yours.
This is what I have and I don't have MS Office installed but only PowerPoint Viewer.
In Control Panel is listed as Microsoft Power Point Viewer.

It gets removed via MS Office installer. You have to use add-remove programs > MS Office > Change > Add or remove features.

Tony, I've gone in and not seen the ppt viewer in the add or remove features dialog, after going through those options in the control panel. I can hit Change, then with Add or remove features, I hit the Continue button at the bottom, but the PPT Viewer isn't one of the programs that is shown (that can be changed or removed).

    It's not listed.
    Pretty weird.

See if Revo will list anything...

Revo Uninstaller is more thorough in deleting programs on your computer than using the Add/Remove option in Windows. Since it is a more powerful tool, please be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

Please note there is a chance when you look for this program to uninstall through Revo it might not be listed because of the previous uninstall. If that is the case simply stop and let me know.
    • Please download and install Revo Uninstaller Free
    • Double click Revo Uninstaller to run it.
    • From the list of programs double click on the program you want to remove
    • When prompted if you want to uninstall click Yes.
    • Be sure the Moderate option is selected then click Next.
    • The program will run, If prompted again click Yes
    • When the built-in uninstaller is finished click on Next
    • Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
    • Check the items in bold only on the list then click Delete. You may have to expand some folders by clicking the "+" mark.
    • When prompted click on Yes and then on Next.
    • Put a check on any folders that are found and select Delete
    • When prompted select Yes then Next
    • Once done click Finish.

    Revo doesn't list it.

OK I guess I can assume that I've already (at some point) run an uninstaller, but for whatever reason, it deleted traces in the registry, but neglected to uninstall the program itself?

I'd like to see one more thing.
Re-run SystemLook with the following script:

    Code:
    :dir
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office /s

    OK, those are definitely leftovers.
Are you saying that you can still open .pps files?
