    Dear friends,

    Allow me first to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    In a school computer center, I have 1 Server and 15 PCs (windows XP pro);

    1- I need that each student (around 100) can log on any PC with his/her own username and pwd.

    2- I need that each student save his work on the Server and only him/her can access it;

    Please advise about the best procedure.

    Thank you a lot

    P.S.

    I'll be using (trying) Deep Freeze for the first time (unless you advise another software, I most probably unaware of) so that PCs' initial isntallation/config be restored on each reboot. (Most of the school management are volunteers and I need to minimize the cost so that I don't often have to do maintenance)

    This web site might help you:
    Multiple User accounts in Windows XP

    Correct me if I am wrong.

    You will also need to set up the server so that when each user on the PC logs in they access their account on the server. You will have to put each student on the server also with their User Name and Password like they are in XP and map each user to thier
    own account on the server

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

    Thanx for the reply;

    After reading for a while on some forums, I learned that I have to set up Active directory domain, create the usnernames on the server, get the PCs on the domain and it should work.

    did not do it yet, but will keep you updated; hope that i will succeed.

    Thanx again,

    Group policy will go a long way in helping you control what your end users can do.
    You can also redirect their documents to secure folders on the server.
