I have been having problems with netscape 7.01( conflicts with xpcom and norton uninstaller) and would like to know the complete file entries (ie mozzila folders, profile files, application data, reg entries etc...) as i would like to complety remove it from my system. When i used add remove i noticed it did not completly remove it all, lots of files were left behind. As it will not reinstall Xpcom error)and i cannot uninstall norton properly with netscape installed, as they use the to same uninstaller (nsunistall.exe) I had to do it all manualy one piece at a time and edit my registry. Norton is more important (virus protection) and reinstalled it but need to finish the netscape clean up. Any help would be muchly appreciated

    Thank you for listening

    hankf,

    Try removing the following folders:

    C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 7 Folder
    C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla Folder
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles Folders

I can not find anything on registry entries. Suprised that you have problems with Netscape and Norton's. I run both on a 98 and XP system without any problems. Give those folders a try and let me know if that helps.

    hankf,

A little more additional info that I got from a friend. Also delete the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\common files\mozilla.org

As far as the Registry, do a Registry find for Netscape and remove all Registry entries.

    I hope that helps!

kool thanx alot!!! and yes i was surprised that this would happen with noton and netscape but i guess it is a bug in the software the uninstaller is the same file when i uninstalled netscape it deleted notons uninstaller as they are the same file and same name this is a known problem according to symantec. The wied thing was when you go to add remove noton it would come up "are you sure you want to uninstall netscape" so which ever way you went the other program would not uninstall. hmmmm
think some one would no better.

actually microsoft sneakily bought up netscape and fired most of the crew... so they are out of a job  anyway you have helped as a clean computer is a trouble free computer. ever try opera as a browser still mozilla based but dosnt install anywhere other then in program files. (exeption 1 reg entry but only for the advertisers) I believe they (symantec) has corrected the problem as this would apply to systemworks 2001 but the elusive xpcom error stilll prevailes us

Yeah, it was pretty nice of Microsoft to buy out Netscape. Glad to hear that your computer is a happy computer now. I have not tried Opera or any of the Mozilla programs. I do hear that they are pretty good though. I'm just a little slow on the changing. When I find something I like, I tend to hold on to it. Sometimes, maybe a little too long. :D

Too bad about the xpcom error. The only thing I found on that was this page. Not sure if it will help now that Netscape has been removed.
