I run a windows 2000 server / Active Directory based network of about 200 PC's

I would like to be able to block the use of iGoogle across the network while still enabling access to the standard google.com/.co.uk site.

We use a proxy software called CyBlock which works fine for what we use it for which is creating a whitelist of allowed sites and blocking the rest.

However this software does not allow us to block folders within a domain as it can only block whole domains, so I cannot block www.google.com/ig without blocking google.com total.

    Anyone have any ideas?

igoogle.com redirects to google.com/ig, and igoogle is a different ip address than google, thus you may be able to filter the ip address instead of the names.

Excellent idea and I thought we had it, however I blocked:

    208.113.205.32 & 209.85.135.147

which appear to be the igoogle addresses, but no joy we can still get the pages unfortunately :(

I resolved www.google.com/ig to IP 208.69.32.137 via the opendns.com DNS server with Port Explorer's Resolver utility.

Perhaps blocking that IP will do the trick? Please let us know.

BTW, I added a link to opendns.com above because I think it may help you with your filtering efforts. :)

Thanks mailman, unfortunately thats a no go I'm afraid, however I think this is more due to our crappy proxy software.

Gonna get rid and go for something a little more customisable I think.
