    Welcome to WindowsBBS:)

The tricky thing about the KLEZ virus is that it sends it'sself from someones computer BUT it uses some elses address.

Example, the virus might come from YOUR computer (which is the infected compter) but the emails have MY address on them because I'm in your address book.

www.mailwasher.net will allow you to check you mail off the internet and decide which one to load down to your pc.

Hi, thanks for your promptness. Right. I know that It sends an email to, say person "a" and tells person "a" that it comes from person "b" whereas really it comes from person "c ". Got that !!
I checked the properties and it has the regular "from" info which matches the from info in the email. However, digging through the stuff I found what I think is the real sent from address. It was in the routing info. If this is so, then I know that person. I didn't know who the pc was telling me the mail was from. Does that make sense??? :) at lease that's how I think it works anyhoo.
I also get an email once a day from who knows who it is with an attachment which obviously I will not open. that's the addy that I want to block. does netwasher help with that? and how does it work?

in outlook express, highlite the messenger you want to block. Select block sender in the message dropdown list.

Unfortunately I don't have a message drop down box. I must have an older version of OE. I am working on my laptop - which is a dinosaur to say the least so wouldn't be surprised if it was the beta version... (just kidding !!!) I think it's version 5.0 I'm afraid to upgrade any programs for fear of slowing it down from the snails pace that it already is :). But I do thank you for the suggestion.

I know that OE versions have the block sender in different places but if you go to help and ask for block sender in the index side it should give you a way to do it.

    RE: Klez

If you've got it - Good luck in getting rid of it. I picked it up somewhere and NAV 2001 was no help in seeing it or getting rid of it. My solution was a complete format. Then after a week of rebuilding, the purchase of Norton Systemworks and telling everyone in my address book NOT to send me any more attachments because I would immediately delete them, I am almost back to normal 'computer-wise'.

'Anger and frustration-wise' I still have a way to go.

    Good luck !! :)
