I have several programs run at start up such as:
    Office, Vipre, Malwarebytes etc.

Some of them like Vipre appear only in the right hand Notification Area of the task bar and others like Malwarebutes appear in the Notification Area and also minimized in the task bar on the left. Others like Office/Outlook appear only minimized in the task bar and not in the Notification Area.

I would prefer that they all just show in the Notification Area and not clutter up the main task bar.

Do I have any control over where in the task bar and/or /Notification Area the start up files appear?

(The ones in the Notification Area I have the Properties marked to show icon and notifications - but don't think that affects whether they show in the regular task bar or not)

Hi Rob. I don't think this is possible. It all depends if the program has a minimize to system tray option when the program starts up.

Some programs don't have this option so you might be stuck with them being minimized to the taskbar only. Have a look at each program's options to see if they can be minimized to the system tray.

Thanks guys and sorry I missed your replies a week ago.

I'll play around with both your suggestions.
