It's annoying to try to read some websites when this vertical line of social network icons pop-up on the far left and overlay the part of the text you want to read.

How do I get rid of these (forever?) using Chrome.

    retiredlearner,

Thanks but I scanned all the settings under Settings > Advanced and couldn't locate it.
Any idea which one or category it's called?

Post a link to a site that has the vertical social icons. Sounds like what you are referring to is not at all sites, in which case there's not much you can do about it because displaying such icons is done by the site developer with code on the page.
