I have several custom shortcuts to folders on the desktop that do not show the option of Properties > Pin to StartUp.

What is the best way to make such a shortcut automatically open and minimize to the taskbar on start up?

Click on the Desktop shortcut and drag it to the task bar - little message box appears 'Pin to Windows Explorer' - release mouse button.

When you right click on the Windows Explorer icon in the taskbar your shortcut(s) will be listed. Click to open.

To unpin right click on the pinned shortcut and select unpin.

    Pete,

Yes, that works/helps but is not exactly what I was hoping for.

I want the links to open automatically and minimize when I reboot (like I could do by dragging them to the Start Menu in XP)

    Pete,

IT WORKS!! (your 2nd link: Method Two > Option one)

Who knew that the Startup folder was 9 levels down in the C: directory?

Everything I needed in Win7 was Soooooooo much easier in XP!

    Thanks for all your effort.

You have sure made my life more livable with all your great replies!!
