2K with SP4 and just one user profile will take up about 750megs of data. Don’t know how much space the updates since SP4 will use, but I can’t imagine it would be that much. The pagefile could vary by default depending on the installed RAM and the size of the hard drive – from perhaps 760 to 1500 megs – but this can be reduced or moved. If you enable hibernate you’ll need about another half gig. Reserved space for the Recycle Bin will take 10% of the partition, so if it’s a large one that could run into gigs, but easily reset to whatever size you want. The Temp Internet Files reserved space can also be reset if it takes a lot.

So yes 3gigs or more, but only about 750megs of actual data for the OS. With tweaking this can be brought down to half that and serious tweaking down to 200megs.

I have a 'bare' Win2K running in VPC, with latest service pack & updates the WINNT folder takes up 1.05GB.
