Can anyone tell me how to turn off the CD and DVD drive auto play function in XP Pro? I can't find it anywhere. I think there is a reg hack to do it but I can not find it anywhere. And I roamed around the device manager and Disk management applets thorougly. :(

    Any help will be appreciated

    Thanks

Open My Computer, right click on the drive for which you want to turn off auto-play, go to Properties, then the Autoplay tab. Click on "Choose an option" to enable it, then click on "Take no action." Click OK. Do that for each drive.

    That should do it.

How about autoplay a la carte?

Just hold down the shift key as you insert a CD or DVD. This will disable autoplaly for that insertion.
