Open the message and click the Forward button.

Then remove (highlight and delete) all the addresses you want removed. Then send it to whoever.

If you just want to keep it with the addresses removed, send the edited version to your own email address. Once you have it back, delete the original.

I agree with Miz, partially. I use Reply because the message does not show when I select Forward in Thunderbird. When you use reply, just delete everything you don't want to send and then change who it's going to.

Mike, mine only shows ALL email addresses if I use Reply to all in Thunderbird. Then you can only Delete them one at a time as they don't highlight all. Have I got a different problem? Neil.

I guess it would be helpful to know two things about fleck's issue.

    1. What specific e-mail program (and version) does fleck use? If we know this, then perhaps someone can provide instructions that are specific to fleck's e-mail client.

    2. Under what conditions does fleck want to remove e-mail addresses?
    • Does fleck simply want to remove e-mail addresses from the body of the message?
    • Does fleck want to remove e-mail addresses from the message header?
    • Does fleck want to remove these e-mail addresses only when forwarding and/or replying?
    • Does fleck ALWAYS want the e-mail addresses removed? (i.e., Can the removal be automated?)

    Neil,

If you use "Reply To All ", then yes, all the email addresses will be shown in the "To" field. I assumed that fleck wanted to forward an email and eliminate all the addresses in that email. If you select "Reply ", the only email address that will show in the "To" field is the person who sent it to you. In the body of the email is all the addresses of where that email has been sent to. Those email addresses can be highlighted and deleted. This way, you get to forward the body of the email only. Just change the email address in the "To" field to the person you want.

I hope that is what you meant and that I have explained it clearly. Let me know if I misunderstood your question.

Mike, Thunderbird does work a little differently to the way Outlook Express does. I've just compared both and it shows as you described. I have no problem with deleting all email addresses the sender sent the email to if I Forward or Reply. Thanks for explanation I think fleck should be able to understand. Neil.

    Hi Neil,

You're welcome. You mentioned sending as a Forward and I had to look at my settings since I don't see any email that I forward. It turns out that I have TB set to forward "as an attachment" and "not inline ". With it set to inline, I could do as you do and just forward the email and remove the addresses.
