    Hi
Sometimes I land on a website and get a message that tells me 'That what I want is not available in my country'.
My questions are 'How do they know what country I am in and is there any way to get around it?'
    Thanks
    Lewis

My guess is they know by your IP address. Nothing you can do about it other than use a proxy server of some kind. If you use a proxy server, the page gets sent to the proxy server first and then to you from there. Otherwise, they need to know your IP address in order to be able to send the web page you requested.

Yeah it is your IP that gives you away, certain IP ranges are given to each country.

We use this technique on our corporate site to drive people from each country to the appropriate part of the site and determine whether prices show in £ or $
