    Hello

Can somebody assist me. I have some data files from genealogical searching in the UK or at a UK linked site, and which I have discovered were saved with an `ss' extension: eg. file `xxxx.ss' In this particular case, the file names are those of answers for whom I was searching. I do not want to destroy the research results contained therein.

I've tried every which way I can think of to view these files even to using Quick View Plus, Adobe, LView Pro, Picture Publisher, etc. etc. all to no avail.

Here's the rub. I think these are interactive files that can be viewed at the originating site. For the life of me, I can't find or ID the site again even working through my bookmarks.

Now I need somebody to take me by the hand, turn on the light and lead me to home base OR, tell me how I can view the page contents perhaps by changing the extension..

Has anybody heard a more ridiculous help request?
    Don't answer that! :)

    SS EXTENSION

    Thanks Steve,

I found your first group of files and it was from that and the `bitmap' reference that I was moved to try all my graphic imaging software.

As to the address list you provided, here's my results:

    SS EXTENSIONS

Sorry about that. My fingers slipped. Let's try again.

    Thanks Steve,

I found your first group of files and it was from that and the `bitmap' reference that I was moved to try all my graphic imaging software.

As to the address list you provided, here's my results:

1 Keeps yielding a `Gateway Timed Out' even after rebooting. Gave up.

2 Gave up. Location won't load in IE 5.5 even after booting.

3 Dicey result. Wants me to DL a file to HD and when I want to open it on line, I get no response.

4 Simply the former address of #5

    5 Zero results

6 Thought I'd hit the jack pot 'til I discovered the software is for Mac users only.

    Back to the drawing board.

    Welt,
Have you tried renaming the files extension with something like .txt?

    Daizy

    *edit*
Also take a gander here to see if there's nay chance you've misread the file extension?

    RENAMING

Yes, Daisy, I have and tried using a few other graphics extensions too but from what Quick View Plus reveals, it's not code that my uneducated eye recognises.

    Thanks.

I'll try again ... after I've voted in the advance poll for our city municipal election...if they'll come to the car. I cannot go into the poll. They've come to me in the past but with new-fangled voting machines this year, I may be dis-enfranchised. ;-(

Tried again Daisy but still no dice. Guess I'll just have to keep searching for the web site allows the user to save data in this form [unexpectedly].

    Thanks once more.
