    How do I...............?

I am ready to take the plunge and change the Bios on my MOBO soon. I D/L the correct upgraqde and utility for it and have the following questions:

    1. How do I record my currect CMOS settings before I do this?

    2. The instructions say "create a "bootable" floppy and put the Bios upgrade and utility on itâ€. What makes it "bootable "? I tried to create a disk following instructions by going to DOS and typing "format a:/u/s" and got "bad command or file name "...

If you are using Windows lower than ME just put a floppy disk in and do a Start~Run~and type SYS A:

That will make a clean boot only floppy.

Then copy the Downloaded file(s) to the same floppy. I think they will all go on one disk.

    But. When upgrading/updating the BIOS.

Start from a Complete power off state and let the machine boot DIRECTLY to the Floppy

Preferably after a 2-3 minute wait. This assures that RAM is clear.

Do not let it go to the HD first.

And do not use a Win98 Startup disk.
