    Hi All,
I want to un-install Download Accelerator Plus, but cannot. I have tried uninstalling at the Add and Remove page and also theDownlod Accelerator install in the progames section.
I know that Microsoft have a page on the subject in their Knowledge Base section, but I was at a loss to find it.
My Operating System is Windows XP Pro.
    Thanks to any replies.

You can use Pest Patrol for removing DAP but you gotta buy the app at $40 or so.

Demo version available Here for free 30 day trial - can't say for sure what it will do when compared to the paid version but it may well remove stuff for you.

Ad-aware has a free utility designed specifically to remove DAP. The lavasoft link wouldn't work for me just now but you can get a copy of dapcln.zip from Here. They removed DAP detection/removal from the main Ad-aware app since some folks with a paid version got upset when it was removed.

Sometimes, and I don't know why, if you RE-INSTALL a program, you can uninstall it... Worth a shot, here.

Johanna has a good suggestion. Sometimes the installation is not complete, or the uninstall log file was not installed or has subsequently been damaged. Reinstalling will remedy that problem.

Often an uninstallation is as simple as removing the folder and deleting the registry entries.

In other cases, like DAP, files are installed in various places and these are more difficult to uninstall completely. You will find an install.log in the DAP folder. Uninstalling requires undoing all the entries you see there.

Check the section "Detection and Removal" under:
    http://www.safersite.com/PestInfo/d/download_accelerator_plus.asp

This is a link "How to manually remove the program ". Make sure is the same program

You may want to verify that the option to add/remove the program is present in the registry.

    Launch regedit
    go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\download

Look for a file similar to "download_accelerator_plus" folder.
Select it, on the right pane look to see if there is an entry called "Uninstall String" . EX: /uninst C:\PROGRA~1\PESTP~\uninst.inf. (this is just an example)
