Alright, as stated in the title.
    This is my situation...

While browsing my music list in a folder... i drag down to search mp3... it will suddenly refresh and it will go back to the top page again.
Even i highlight few of em, its gone after the refresh.

i have try all the option in the folder properties and same result!~
tried - stop fast indexing, uncheck read only.

    and this is freaking annoying!

and btw... i try some google search, all of their answer is given to this link "http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm" but it seems Content Encoding Error for me. If anyone can open that page, just please copy paste the important thing over here.

and i tried all research before posting here >.<

    HELP ME PLEASE!~

    thanks in advance...

    regards
    m3ow~

Yes, go to that page: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Scroll down to line 157 on the left to "Prevent Automatic Folder and Icon Refresh "
To use the Regedits: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/disablerefresh.reg

That's a reg file so you can double click it and allow the data to be entered into the registry. It should stop the automatic refreshing problem you have.

It looks like this inside the file:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
     "NoNetCrawling "=dword:00000001

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
     "Max Cached Icons "= "12000 "

I recommend saving the present key values (export and pencil and paper) before running the fix, just for safety.

Click the link I posted and it will allow you to choose SAVE. Direct it to where you want to save it. It is a .reg file so you only have to double-click it and follow the screen directions to allow it to modify the necessary registry keys.

I think you must right-click on the file to get the option of saving.
(Using Firefox here, may be different with IE)
Edit: I just checked and it is different in IE.

Dude: I think the poster must use my link. (Yours goes to the actual composition of the file, with no option to save)

I had the same problem of frequent folder refresh, especially with folders containing PDF files. I noticed that the net icon on the task bar starts blinking at the same time as the folder refreshes. So I guessed it must be something related to the internet.
I use Firefox so I had uninstalled Internet Explorer. I installed IE7 and the problem was solved.

I recommend you uninstall and reinstall your Internet Explorer.

    Good Luck
