I can view and print pdf files from my bank website with Firefox. When I try to do it in I.E. I get a window come up that asks if I want to show all content.
I say allow and then I get another window that asks me to retry to open pdf and a blank window comes up when I retry.

How do I get I.E. to load pdf without getting that show all content message?
I use foxit reader as my PDF reader. I tried putting the website in the privacy tab under manage sites and allow.

How do I know where the local html file is located? Is there a generic *. that can be put in trusted zone? Each pdf file I want to open would have it's own location, wouldn't it?

Allowing active content to run files on my computer didn't work. I still get that prompt for show all content.

Are you viewing the pdf files online or are you downloading them onto your computer and viewing them offline?

I'm trying to view them on line and then print them from there. I don't see an option to save the PDF to HD and then open.

With one bank site there's no problem. With the other bank's website there is.

Try adding your banks website to the trusted sites zone in IE and see if that resolves the problem.

No it didn't. If I could get rid of the 'display all content' prompt I think it would work. I put www.bankname.com in trusted zone. Should I be using something with *. ?

I put the address in the trusted zone and I still get the 'show all content' prompt. Now foxit reader tries to open the pdf and I get a format error:not a PDF or corrupted.

I can open this PDF with firefox as my web browser.

Are you running IE8 or IE9?

If you are running IE9 click Start< All Programs< Right click the Internet Explorer shortcut and select Run As Administrator. After this new window for IE9 opens, see if you can open the pdf on your banks website now.

Did you try this? In I.E. click on Tools\Internet Options\Security Tab\Custom Level. Scroll down to Miscellaneous. Under Miscellaneous go to Display Mixed Context change it from prompt to enable. Click Ok then click Apply then Ok. I hope this is what you are looking for.

I tried that and I'm still not able to view or print the statement. I have been getting a new error format error: not a PDF or corrupted.

Ok lets do this then. Open IE and go to your banks website and right click on the link where you would view your pdf file. A menu will open and in that menu click on Save Target As..., then another window will open asking you where you want to save the pdf file. Choose a location on your computer to save the pdf file and then click on the Save button.

Close IE, navigate to the directory where the pdf file is located, and open the pdf file that you just saved on your computer. It should now open normally.

It's a link to the PDF and not the PDF itself. There is no option to save as from the link.

You should be able to directly save the pdf file using Foxit Reader once you open the pdf file. I've never used Foxit Reader but I know Adobe Reader has this option to save a pdf file directly to your computer.

Take a look here, How do I save an online PDF file to my computer?

Save target is there as an option but it's not in bold (active). It is on the sample you gave me the link to.

At this point I don't really have anything else to suggest. If you were running Adobe Reader I could give you a few more things to try but since you are using Foxit Reader, I am not familiar with how that program works. When I view bank statements and documents usng Adobe Reader, I can download them onto my computer with no problem.

I don't get why you can't simply just save the file onto your system and open it offline. Maybe some other members who use Foxit Reader can give you some more suggestions. I assume you are using the latest version of Foxit Reader?

The weird part is that this particular bank site is the only one I have problems with. Even another bank site works fine opening and printing PDF files, or saving them to HD for that matter.

    Thanks for all your help.

No Problem. Its probably an issue with that particular website, that has some restrictions in place which is preventing you from saving the pdf file.

I guess there's not much we can do about that. Thanks again for your help.
