How do I restore Windows mail?

    Some one that will remain nameless (for a very long time) :mad: spilled a drink on my laptop making it in operable.

    I was able to pull out the hard drive and access my files. How do I restore my email from Windows mail in Vista Premium?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I found that article, but I can not get into the Windows Mail program in the dead laptop. I only have access to the files on the hard drive.

    You don't need to - your old hard drive is the backup so to speak and I guess you have it hitched up to your working computer as a slave.

    The default message store is at .....

    C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail

    You will need to show hidden files and folders and then in Windows Mail on the new computer File > Import and point the wizard to that location on the old drive.

    I use Outlook Express on XP, but I think Vista is basically the same as far as that procedure goes.

    I will backup the whole folder and transfer it to the new laptop and then restore it when the new laptop comes in next week.
